Saying Thank You

My dad sent me a message today that said 'Thank you'. I had been telling my friend only a few hours before this text from dad that I was a wreck, but that that 'thank you' just completely fixed me. I'm not going to try and elaborate on this, things are kind of messy. But dad's 'thank you' today was the best and most meaningful 'thank you' I have ever received in my lifetime. I know nothing about parenting but if I were to try my hand at giving advices to parents, I'd have only one - to thank their kids more often. At the right time, a simple 'thank you' can solve everything and can be more effective than an hour long lecture.

just less than a week ago, i was at the airport, ready to board the long flight back to india. My mom saw me off at the airport. after the usual hugs and kisses, she said "thank you for everything." you are bang on.... that really meant more than anything else to me.

don't you just love them when they do that? It makes me want to be the perfect daughter and do their every bidding, which I don't normally feel otherwise..

I totally agree with the sentiment. Indian parents have long forgotten to thank their kids for anything. Space, appreciating, and some more space will fix most kids, and god knows, we need some serious fixing!
